The Wonders of Water

Water is an essential and the major component of all living matter.  It is also the largest single component of our bodies.  Water is the one substance (other than oxygen) that we must absolutely have if we are to survive.  An adult can live several weeks without food but no more than about 10 days without water.

Our brains are approximately 80% water.

Newborn babies are 90% water

Adults are about 70% water

Water sustains all forms of human life.  Water adjusts the body’s temperature and assists in digestion.  It removes toxins from the body and also makes necessary body fluids. The qualities and properties of the water we drink can determine the quality of our health.  Every aspect of a healthy body requires sufficient water.

When there is insufficient water, every bodily function suffers and the body must operate from a level of  “crisis management”.  Ultimately crisis management results in disease.    Dehydration is frequently one of the main causes of degenerative diseases.

A dry mouth is the last outward sign of extreme dehydration.  Pay attention to your body’s constant need for water.  Damage and illness occur long before you have a dry mouth.

In his book Your Body’s Many Cries for Water Dr F Batmanghelidj describes how dehydration firstly causes pains, later followed by the following diseases:  allergies, Alzheimer’s disease, angina, arthritis, arteriosclerosis, asthma, back pain, bulimia, cancers, colitis pain, heartburn, chronic constipation, child learning and attention disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, headaches, migraines, neck pain, stress, depression, stomach ulcers, hiatal hernia, hypertension, weight and obesity problems.  He maintains that morning sickness is a sign that both the foetus and the mother are thirsty.

How much water?  You should drink a minimum of 2 litres of water every day, even in winter.  In summer, with heavy exercise, or with heavy sweating, you can more than double this.  It is water you should drink, not other liquids.

It is recommended drinking 0.5 litres of water on rising each morning, and wait at least half and hour before having breakfast.  You should not drink water less than 30 minutes before eating, or while your stomach is digesting, typically up to two hours after a meal consisting of concentrated protein or carbohydrate.  Fruit and vegetables digest more quickly.

Alcohol, coffee, tea, soft drinks, lemon-in-the-water and anything else but plain, uncontaminated water does not count as water.

DID YOU KNOW …. IT TAKES 32 GLASSES OF ALKALINE WATER TO

NEUTRALIZE THE ACID FROM ONE  GLASS OF COLA !!!

8 Reasons Why You Should Drink Alkalized Water

  • Water is vital for your blood, heart and kidney function
  • Water flushes toxins from your body and prevents constipatation
  •  Water re-hydrates your brain, expanding mental capacities
  • Water is the key ingredient to looking and feeling your best
  • Water helps you maintain your ideal weight
  • Water increases energy levels and enhances endurance and performance
  • Water speeds recovery from colds, flu and other illnesses.
  • Water cushions and lubricates the joints and protects the organs and tissues.

However, all water is not the same.  With increasing pollutants in our environment, the standard of our drinking water id deteriorating.  Many health experts are now recommending that our drinking be filtered with a high quality filtration system.  Increasing the alkalinity of our water has also been shown to provide numerous health benefits (our bodies have become too 'acidic').  High acidity can contribute to a range of symptoms and degenerative diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, headaches, fatigue, and skin conditions just to name a few.
