Who needs to install a KDF filter?
Anyone who wants to remove as many heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide and chloride from their source water before going through carbon (GAC) filter.
It is also recommended to install a KDF pre-filter if you live in area of high mineralized water (WA, SA, NT) if you have a Jupiter Alphion or Delphi. Your Alphion or Delphi uses magnetically operated solenoid switches that attract iron, which may affect its operation. Installing a KDF filter in your inlet water supply before the water reaches your Alphion or Delphi unit will protect the solenoid and greatly increase the lifespan of your basic Biostone Filter and reduce overall cost of filters.
KDF process media will reduce or remove chlorine, iron, hydrogen sulfide, lead and mercury and may inhibit the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi. Redox media removes up to 98% of water-soluble cations (positively charged ions) of lead, mercury, copper, nicke, chromium and other dissolved metals. While removal rates depend on a number of factors, more than 98% of chlorine is removed by KDF in home water treatment systems (90% in shower water filters due to high flow rate).
EFFECTIVELY REMOVES:
Heavy Metals, Iron, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, bad tastes and odours
Significantly Reduces:
Arsenic, Radon, Sediment, VOC's.
Advantages:
- effective removalof wide range of contaminants
- extend life and efficiency of carbon (GAC) filters
- remains effective at higher water temperatures
DISADVANTAGES:
- best when combined with other filtraton technologies for full spectrum protection.
TYPICAL MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS:
KDF filters require little or no maintenance. it is recommended that they be placed approximately every 8 months to 1 year, depending on the application. To reduce fouling and pre-mature expiry of your KDF filter, if you water supply has a high sediment content / turbidity, you should consider a sediment pre-filter (whole house or point of use).
